Woeful service from Vodacom

I have had the worst experience with signing up for a new contact with vodacom.

I switched over from MTN to Vodacom. Before I did the online application (one process that actually works very well) I contacted their customer care to enquire about the process and what is needed for me to port my number. I am aware that the previous contact needs to be cancelled and your sim needs to be on prepaid for a port to be possible. The consultant I spoke to advised me to apply online and to then go into the store for the number to be ported. Which I proceeded in doing, when I received my phone and went into store the consultant advised that my application was loaded as a new number and not a port, the contract needs to be cancelled and I have to reapply. This is after I have been waiting to be contacted for two weeks by a consultant.

Now they advised that it will be 7-10 days before my device gets picked up and the contract getting cancelled. Then I have to reapply and hope they have devices in stock. This is unacceptable, I don't understand why they can't send me a new sim that can be ported.

Now this morning I phoned customer care to inquire about just cancelling the contract when they come and pick up my device as I am frustrated and getting nowhere. Now I have to pay a penalty fee of R35,000-00 for the contract to be cancelled. All because of the wrong advice being given at the start of this process.

I am disgusted with the service I have received. I wish I can rate them 0 stars.
