Why is Vodacom *********** Customers on Sim Swap?

I visited the Vodacom Store on previously to enquire about a sim swop as I have a Mini Sim card and my newer phone would require a Micro Sim Card they said that I could simply purchase a vodacom sim card and call their call centre who would happily assist me, there would be no charge other then the Sim Card Purchase.

With this in Mind - I purchased a Vodacom Sim Card and called the Call centre as instructed only to be told that the free sim swap was only available to PREPAID customers whereas I am a contract customer and must pay R75 to get this done. This does not make sense since there is no physical difference between a Contract Sim card and a Prepaid sim card - it's merely a setting on your system.

What is the business logic behind this? Vodacom already has me tied into a contract with a guaranteed payment every month whereas a prepaid customer can leave whenever they want.

Why the desperation to make R75 rand from a someone who has been your loyal customer for 18 years?.
