Why even have a store if it's worse than online

So I upgraded my contract to the Galaxy Note Edge. Good phone but the Note 4 does feel a bit nicer in my hand. My understanding was that there's a 7 day warranty and a 14 day return policy if I'm not happy with the device. I'm looking to take it back and get the Note 4 + Gear S. I just spoke to the branch and they said it's only with online transactions. Website states you have 14 days to return/swop the phone - [URL Removed]

In store they tell you about the 7 day warranty policy. So I did read the 14 day policy online and then they informed me I have 7 days for the warranty. They didn't even have a dummy phone to look at when I bought the Edge. I have been a good customer and a good account for Vodacom and I can't see why this policy should differ especially if its the same company. I'm going to be spending the same amount of money and if I did this online it wouldn't have been an issue. Just because I went in store it's not possible?
