What does warranty mean to Vodacom? Why bind yourself in a contract you cannot honour?

My mom bought a phone on 36 months contract at the beginning of 2025, her phone suddenly reported moisture detected and she did not expose it to water in any way. Her phone is still under warranty (24 months warranty). She was informed that her phone was booked for repairs yesterday and she let them know that she will not be able to pay any additional amount to the monthly contract fee, the consultant informed her that her phone is still under warranty they do not charge for phones under warrant. Today she got a call from Nelspruit Repairs saying that she needs to pay R1 800 to fix the phone. A phone that is under warrant??? Vodacom does not respect customers, no ways!

Warranty means nothing to Vodacom, you’ll end up paying 24months of the remaining contract
