What does it take to get rewards out of Vodacom?

My contract is 899 per month. But I spend over R2000 on my account every month. Now I have been told my a member of my family that he was given a loyalty reward because of his spend on his account by being able to upgrade annually instead of every two years. But I get told there is nothing that can be done about my upgrade process? Why Does this apply to only certain people?
