Weekly Vodacom Fibre Downtime – No Advance Notice – Affecting My Work & Against ICASA Rules
I am experiencing weekly Vodacom Fibre downtime in Krugersdorp, and Vodacom never provides advance notice of these outages. Instead, I receive the same generic SMS only once the service is already down, saying it “may be caused by load shedding or a third‑party outage.”
This is unacceptable. I work from home, and this ongoing downtime is directly affecting my income and productivity.
According to ICASA’s End‑User and Subscriber Service Charter Regulations, Vodacom must:
Give 7‑day notice for planned interruptions, and notify customers as soon as any major outage occurs via SMS, social media, and their website.
Vodacom clearly isn’t meeting these requirements. On top of this, the Consumer Protection Act requires all service providers to deliver services that are reliable, of good quality, and performed with reasonable care, which is not happening here.
I have now sent Vodacom a formal written complaint, requesting an investigation, proper outage reporting, and compensation for downtime. If this issue is not resolved urgently, I will escalate it to ICASA for a quality‑of‑service investigation and to the National Consumer Commission for breach of CPA rights.
I expect Vodacom to respond promptly and provide a proper solution - not another template SMS.
To date, I have not been contacted by any Vodacom consultants.

Your response arrives nearly a month after my complaint. This does not inspire confidence.
