Wasting My Time, Preventing Upgrade To Required Device, Is Vodacom Still Relevant???

Roughly two months ago I started the upgrade process for one of my numbers I have with Vodacom. At first I got great service, quick to give me me two upgrade options based on my requirements - Blackberry KeyOne @ R479 (R165 Airtime + 5GB Data recurring monthly) - Blackberry Key2 @ R599 (R165 Airtime + 5GB Data recurring monthly)

After I have chosen the preferred option (Blackberry KeyOne @ R479) it took two weeks for anyone to get back to me to inform me that the KeyOne is out of stock and new stock won't be ordered as the device is end of life. I was then told that they would get back to me about the Key2 at a lower price.

The weekend after this I was at the Centurion Mall and my partner wanted to go by the Vodacom store and found that they had one last Blackberry KeyOne in stock, but could not give me the same deal as the upgrade consultant gave me over the phone, as the best they could do was R165 Airtime and once-off 5GB data. I then declined as I was still waiting on feedback from the upgrade consultant.

At this point I on my way out of country for a week from the Wednesday and still had no word from the consultant, but on my return I found that there were no messages informing me that someone tried to contact me, if that was the case I would've let that week slide, but still no attempt is very dissatisfying.

On the same weekend of my return, I went back to the Vodacom Store at Centurion Mall and found that all their Blackberry KeyOne and Key2 devices are sold out, and got the same message that they won't be receiving any stock of the devices any time soon.

For the following two weeks I have been phoning Vodacom to get hold of the consultant that was helping me, leaving messages to contact me back.

Eventually another person decided to help me because the original consultant was "busy". Working with the new consultant I managed to get a deal for the Blackberry Key2 @ R459 with R165 Airtime and 5GB Data recurring monthly after about two days. After accepting this deal I was told to wait for a confirmation call that would come in 24 hours as they would escalate it because I was already busy trying to upgrade for a while by now.

After waiting the 24 hours, I started phoning back to find out what is going on, and this time I keep on getting the response "The request is at the confirmation stage and someone will get back to me". Eventually almost a week later after phoning back everyday, I finally spoke with someone willing to do a bit more and look into the request, and as it turns out the device is also out of stock, and stock won't be ordered as this device is also now end of life.

And then I was told that I had to go to the various branches and find out if any of them had any stock, no one was willing to go the extra mile for me so I have to do it myself...

This whole ordeal has been very disappointing, especially considering I've been a loyal client of Vodacom for more than 13 years now and have a number of contracts with Vodacom.

I am at a point where as soon as I am able to get either a KeyOne or Key2 or equivalent qwerty keyboard device I WILL jump ship.
