I have read some of the poor customers complaints and have realized that this will be in vain as nobody will solve the problem but here goes. So as a loyal Vodacom customer for the past few years, I got my bill and via mms and to my surprise an additional R900 for a content services line charge. I did not panic as i new vodacom will sort it out. according to them I am a avid web server and am responsible myself for subscribing to Prizes4me, Picknews, Nowmista, mobiteacher, mobileplaza, Game on, Glamourbabes, Fashion waspa services.
Now i have googled these companies and from what i can see THEY DONT EXIST. Nor are they Listed as a member under WASPA.ORG.ZA
According to Vodacom it is my own fault as i subscribed... now i have had a look on hello peter and there seems to be a few people that "subscribed" without their knowledge, especially the nowmista service. Now either we all like to surf the same bogus websites or there is something else going on.
Now I read about the "double opt in" function that Vodacom introduced to prevent you getting duped into these services... I would like to know how i got linked to 8 of these services within one month and getting dripped dried for close to R1800? where was this double opt in that should have protected me????
You distributed my cell number to these people... you billed me... as far as i can see for no service in return. How can you bill me for companies that dont exist?? So i cant even phone them now can I?
Your customer service advised me not to use my phone to surf the internet???? HUH???? oh and she said i must just send "Stop all" to 31050 many times a day every day to make sure it does not happen again. i am sorry but i never saw in your marketing adds on tv that anyone has to type stop all and not surf the internet to protect themselves from getting over billed by vodacom. and now i have just signed a new 2 year deal with you so i cant even cancel with you.
Now i am sure MR CEO Mohamed Shameel Aziz Joosub has protected himself very well with some kind of fine print in the million page contract you had me sign when i took out my contract. So i am sure this complaint is in vain but i am curious to see what lie some mid level employee will come up with to this complaint as i am sure MR CEO is busy with other more important issues.
I Will try and send the query onto the consumer protection, or cart blanch, or some newspaper, but by the looks of things this is the best scheme under the sun as no-one gets prosecuted and no customer gets refunded so i dont think i will get much luck there. Because hey it is our own fault for using your service for browsing the internet.
Perhaps just forward me an application how i can open my own one of these "companies" so that i can ***** oh sorry i mean get subscribers and get their money from you.
Thank you Kindly
