Wasp subscription fees. I DID NOT SUBSCRIBE!!!!

So I receive my Vodacom account for October and find that there is a R598.24 content fee deducted from my account. I went to my closest Vodashop and was told thIat they were aware that Wasp subscriptions do get activated without the Vodacom clients actually subscribing to the service. Now my question. If Vodacom is aware of the fact that it happens why do they not by means of a message just confirm if the client did in fact subscribe to the service. On second thought if the so called subscription does go through the Vodacom billing system they must receive their admin fees for the transactions. Which means they must make money from the bogus and ******* subscriptions. Double edged sword but easier to ***** from their clients by assisting the Wasp services it looks to me. As I stated I did not subscribe to any Wasp services and thus would think that Vodacom would protect me from something like this. How will Vodacom make sure that their client (Me) get my ****** money back. I do suspect that there might be a lot of other ****med Vodacom clients with the same problem that would find your reply on this complaint very interesting. If you know it happens, why do you still allow it? Another client stung by the wasp!

I appreciate your response to my query. However once again the ball was thrown back to me to contact the regulatory WASPA or alternatively @ waspa.org.za. As far as I know I have never had any communication with them and never signed anything on contract with the them. Thus I signed the contract with Vodacom and was told to direct any complaints to customer care. On the sms that was sent to me it stated that Vodacom cannot lodge an official complaint or request a refund on my behalf. The fact is I am lodging an official complaint against the fact that money was deducted by Vodacom for WASP services that was never agreed to by me on my number. As a client of Vodacom I want the complaint to be investigated by Vodacom and to be explained to me why and how it was possible that Vodacom *******ly deducted money from me for ******* subscriptions. Vodacom has the right to allow ******* deductions but not to lodge an official complaint. Does not make sense.

By the way. Just found the following on Hello Peter from another Vodacom client that was ****** from by GameOn WASP. This was Vodacoms response to that client. "Dear Client I understand your concerns and have logged a refund request with WASPA. Your reference number is # ********** . WASPS are third parties developing and offering services using the Vodacom network. They make use of Vodacom's cellular network infrastructure and billing relationship with the subscriber to deliver and bill for these services, such as SMS voting, Traffic reports, Games, Competition lines, banking transaction charges etc. Customer’s accept and register to WASP services via sms/calls/website at their own will. I have liaised with the Value Added Services Division and they confirmed that WASPs (who are the providers of the content) are within their rights to appoint an agent to bill and collect money on their behalf for content sold by them to their customers. It is not required in law for the agent (in this case Vodacom) to have a specific agreement with, or permission from, the customer, to bill and collect the money on behalf of the WASP. Notwithstanding the above, the agreement concluded between each WASP and Vodacom provides that every WASP that utilizes Vodacom's services to bill and collect monies for the WASPs' products/services, may only instruct Vodacom to bill and collect money for those products/services that have been specifically requested by customers. Moreover the Wireless Application Service Provider Association (WASPA) has been constituted to regulate all WASPs to ensure, inter alia, that they abide with the aforementioned provision. Please note that you may contact WASPA via email at ********** or call on ********** 710. Kind regards Vodacom Consumer Website Team" How is it now stated to me that Vodacom cannot lodge an official complaint or request a refund but it was done for this client???????
