Warranty Void???

Dear Vodacom

I purchased a Huawei P9 Lite and am still on contract with Vodacom in where if this was a marriage the priest would have stated for worse.

On Friday my phone started to negatively charge until completely unusable by Saturday night. I took it in to Vodacom Repairs and they stated I have lost my warranty owing to a scratch on the outer casing which voids my warranty. The scratch was there prior to my charging problem.

Without even bothering to check the phone or check to see if they can help or inspect the latent problem, I was told I could not be helped. Secondly the service agent argued with me as to the legitimacy of my claim stating it was "more than a scratch" and made me to feel like a ***** who was trying to get a new phone. Regardless if my phone had a chunk missing from a piranha bite, the willingness to assist was non existent. I asked her if they could at least see where the problem was coming from and i was informed they can take it in with no time indication of repair, and a minimum cost of R600 (it could have been R550). Owing to the scratch being no where near the charging port, i am at a loss for words. That is like BMW saying I have lost my Motor warranty because of a dent on my door.

In desperation I took my phone to a corner shop type repair center and my phone was semi repaired for R400 in less than a day. If what the repair person said was true, he said it was the charging mechanism and in no way shape or form was remotely related to the scratch/gash/bite/crater or whatever it was deemed as by Vodacom.

I am an honest person who is bitterly disappointed in my service provider. I have been extremely happy with the service Vodacom has given me until now.

A contract is two sided , treat your customers like humans.
