My contract was about to end, so I phoned Vodacom to cancel it. They negotiated with me and we agreed upon a package and a price. But when the time came, they charged me an unbelievable amount and I didn’t even get half of the data that was to be included. I phoned multiple times and every time it was a different story and no one could give me a breakdown of the amount I was paying. They promised to get back to me and never did. After no one could help me, I turned to hello peter and was contacted by a consultant. He then told me that they cannot offer me what I was offered and we agreed that it was contract braking and he said he would cancel my contract and assured me I won’t pay anything extra or any penalties. That same day I was put on pay as you go and ported my number to another network. This was the 4th of September. On the 7th of September I paid for the whole of August and again it was more than what I should have been paying, so I though it included the extra few days of September and I thought that would be the last time and then I would be free of this mess! Then on the 9th of October again my account was debited by R1000 which again was even more than what a full month should have cost and my contract was cancelled on the 4th!!
I phoned Vodacom and they informed that my number was no longer on their system. Off course, because my contract was cancelled!!! After being transferred from pillar to post, I was finally told that the invoice was issued on the first and since my contract was cancelled on the 4th, that is just how it is! Again they couldn’t give me a breakdown of the amount that was taken. I refuse to believe that a company of this size cannot calculate pro rata? It is unacceptable to charge me for more than a full month when they cancelled the contract and assured me I wouldn’t be charged extra.
No one could help me, I finally logged a dispute and was again told they will get back to me. Will they? How is this not theft? Taking my hard earned money just because they can and I cannot do anything about it?
I want to warn anyone who is thinking of using Vodacom and also people who are currently customers.
