Want to give Zero Stars
So in Dec 2017 I was excited to get my cell upgrade from a Sony Xperia Z5, to a Sony Xperia XZ Premium (.
Fast forward one year and 4mths later, my phone stopped working, with the screen dead. Now at the end of Feb 2019, I took my phone in to Vodacom Canal Walk, a week later I got my phone back "fixed". A week later the phone stopped charging (now the beginning of Mar 2019). Took it back to Vodacom Canal Walk again. They questioned why the IMEI number was different, so the phone was not fixed but replaced. A week later got it back again.
Everything seemed fine, then three months later towards the end of May 2019 the phone died again. Took it back to Vodacom Canal Walk. The phone was returned a week later. AGAIN with a different IMEI number. So the phone was not fixed but replaced AGAIN. All seemed fine.
Thanks to Vodacom for "repairing" the phone under its 2 year warranty - Did not need to claim from Vodacom insurance.
NOW in November 2019 the umpteeth replaced phone started giving problems with the sensors. TWO WEEKS before the expiry of the warranty I took took a working phone with problems to Vodacom Tygervalley (been too many times to Canal Walk - looked for better, faster options). A week later I was informed that I could collect the phone. Upon arrival I was told that the phone is dead and beyond repair and that I should claim from insurance.
I took a working phone into Vodacom. Now THEY have a dead phone on hand. Upon further inquiries I was told that there was unauthorized repairs done to the phone.
*** - Where and when?
A R15000 handset, repaired numerous times by Vodacom (read replaced, 'cause they couldn't fix it), now dead, ONE week before the expiry of the warranty they want to claim that I took it to an unauthorized shop (read corner cafe) to have it repaired to get out of their own contractual agreement.
The phone is under contract, warranty and insured against theft, loss and physical damage. The handset is not physically damaged. It is not lost or ****** (It's with Vodacom). Why in my right mind would I take it to the corner cafe to have it fixed if I have all this in place.
After paying Vodacom R45600 for two handsets, airtime and insurance over 4 years they want to renege on their contractual obligation to replace the handset a week before the expiry of the warranty, by claiming that I was at fault. Typical big company against the single guy.
If I have to take this further, I will. The warranty expires at the end of the warranty not before. I'm due for an upgrade but will rather take out a contract with MTN, as the dead "DAMAGED, UNAUTHORIZED REPAIRED, HANDSET" cannot be given to my child as was planned. I lost the cost of the insurance (no loss, theft or damage) and the handset to Vodacom.
Thanks Vodacom.
You suck
If I could give Zero stars I would, I will recommend to everyone that I know not to deal with Vodacom in future
