VodaPay Legal Issues
Don't buy vouchers on VodaPay because chances are you will never receive it, and they will refuse to send it to you. I bought a voucher using VodaBucks three days ago. I didn't get the SMS with the voucher so I spent most of Monday calling VodaPay to try and get it. They refused. They said the only way I can get it is via SMS, they're not able to tell me what it is. I explained I'm getting all my normal SMS messages but not that one. This is NOT the first time this has happened with VodaPay. I kept getting cut off, or people would promise to look into it and get back to me, and they never did. Today I called their ***** department to report VodaPay as committing *****. VodaBucks have a financial Rand value and by taking my money and refusing to give me what I bought, this is *****. I was very polite to the consultant, even calling him sir, and he kept talking over me and when I said he wasn't being courteous he hung up. I called again and got through to team leader Lebogang Lekoko. I asked for a copy of the call recording and she said they don't provide those. I said this is ******* in terms of the POPI act, but she said that's the company policy. She said she will review the call. I said this is what I need: 1) my voucher code 2) the call recording 3) an apology from the agent and 4) vodabucks to make up for the extreme hassle. She said she will escalate the matter of the SMS, but I'm doubtful because of the track record here. This is disgraceful by VodaPay and Vodacom. Their legal department is about to hear from me...
