Vodafone Tablet Repair Cost

I bought a Vodacom tablet cash in December 2014 for R999 and 4 months later my daughter tripped and fell with the tablet in her hands. We called the Vodacom branch in Canal Walk *** and the staff were very unhelpful about how to get it fixed. They insisted we need to bring it in so that they can send it off to be accessed and it would cost R57 for the quotation only. But before doing this we wanted to know if it was going to be worth our while to fix. After fighting telephonically with the staff on a few times, they gave us a telephone number to get an estimate to have it fixed. When we call the repair centre on ***, they then told us it would cost us about R3000 to have the LCD fixed. Why would something that cost me R999 cost me R3000 to have it fixed. Fixing it would cost us the price of 3 new devices. I think it is a *******.
