Vodacoms stance on faulty product.

This is vodacoms respons to a phone that has a case history of same problem . The Black Berry 9720 - known for loading port failure - this is how cost is shifted.

Dear Dave Allen

We have received feedback from our Vodacom Repairs Head Office and they advised that the unit has been assessed and found that the system connector is damaged, that is considered to be physical damage.

As per Darren Betts, Technical Manager, he has already been in contact with you regarding the above.

While I do understand your dissatisfaction and would like to be of positive assistance, I have to bring the following to your attention that Vodacom is bound by the manufacturer?s warranty terms and conditions when dealing with the repair or replacement of a handset.

Regards
Eltino Martin

My reply

Eltino
seems a rather standard response used to dismiss a matter. I see no mention of the facts I mentioned, the manufacturer conveniently considering xyz physical damage as its suites he’s pocket. Tell me how much use does a R100 a month phone get, yes very little. Why can you talk to a technician and say phone wont charge and he will tell you make and model. Why are you told by cell shop owners that this is a on-going issue “ at 10/15% of these phones Dave”. Why is it a obvious phone issue that's just being wiped under carpet at consumer expense. ...........................If the phone had to melt after a week in your pocket, would by saying “we consider it physical damage “ make it physical damage, and when it happens often enough that there is a pattern, would then by denying its a manufacturing fault weakness then make into physical damage. No – its a known issue with this phone model. Name the problem to suite manufacturers benefit. Vodacom is as close as I can get to manufacturer, if manufacturer is treating consumer in this manner and vodacom knows it why does Vodacom continue to supply product.
Eltino if Vodacom does not rectify with compensation for the troubles I been through over last month with Vodacoms government type slowness of response I will cancel my contract with vodacom 25 yrs old, it is. 3 phones 2 tablets, my staff of 6 will then have to follow suite as my company buys the business air time.
I am having a decal made for my business vehicles,it will read “ I cancelled my Vodacom contract – ask me why “ Will place it above my contact number.
.................................So far Vodacom sucks – you guys know this is wrong, but you can get away with it, great – go for it – its about 30/36 000 a year from me gone.
