Vodacom's Sneaky Price Increases
I am a Vodacom Smart M+ subscriber. My current Subscription Fee is R 474.00 with a "Reduced Fee Discount" of -R 242.11. I am a Pensioner and this SIM only package suited my requirements. There is also a 750MB monthly data bundle included, but as I use a Pocket Router I don't use much of this data. This is all well, but now there seems to be TWO underhand processes to increase the monthly fee. ONE: I received an SMS advising that as of 1 MAY 2018, the data bundle and PRICE will increase and was provided with a link which I followed. The new subscription fee has gone up to R 499.00 with the data up to 900MB. Wile I understand that the Operators have their T's & C's, surely one signs up for a 2 year contract expecting REDUCTIONS and IMPROVED value during the period, but not for the price to go up. I have to assume the discount will be retained else we'll end up in court. Watch this space and check your bill as from 1 May. WE know what to do should Vodacom proceed with this sneaky increase. My proposal would be for Vodacom to allow the subscriber a choice as to whether he or she would want the increased data and increased price. By the way, my local Vodashop does not know anything about this proposed increase and communication to subscribers. TWO: This morning I noticed that my bill as from 1 April will increase on both my phone and router contracts! This was noticed via Vodacom Online. We all understand the 15% Vat issue from 1 April, but that is not what Vodacom has done. Upon investigation, I found that the VAT on the Discount has been removed thereby effectively reducing the Discount. Sneaky, sneaky!!! I am horrified - Vodacom claims Speed, Simplicity & Trust - how do you trust a company like this? As mentioned previously, watch this space, we know what to do.
