Vodacom’s reps are committing *****
We have a Vodacom contract which was due for upgrade in 26/03/2020 and would have been at the end of is contract in 26/05/2020. On Thursday 20/02/20 at 11:55 am, I received a call from a man from vodacom calling from +27 (10) ***. The man advised that because we have been loyal customers and paid our contract on time, Vodacom is awarding us a 25% discount on our contract Subscription for the Remainder thereof. The rep from Vodacom had all of our details and then simply wanted to confirm that they can reduce the contract price. He then said that he would throw in 10gb of data each month for the duration of the contract. We don’t need such a contract as we recently took out a data contract. I specifically asked him to confirm that this was not an upgrade that he was selling or a value added service that he was going to add on. He confirmed that this was not the case. He specifically stated that this was not an extension of the contract or an upgrade or an add on that we would be charged for. Late on 21/02/2020 I logged on to the Vodacom app and saw that my subscription was now close to double the original amount. My upgrade date has also changed to 26/05 and the end of contract has changed to 26/08/2020. I called Vodacom on 135 who confirmed that they can not see any reduction of the subscription however they can see a 10gb bundle being added to the contract by the upgrades department. They also confirmed that we would be charged around R400 extra each month. I explained the situation and asked that they listen to the voice recording of the call as proof. They advised that they would remove the bundle but that I will still be charged for it even though I did not use it. They further stated that they cannot confirm if I will be refunded for this ********** transaction. I am shocked at how Vodacom reps lie and commitment ***** and I Expect that nothing will be done by Vodacom about this. That call needs to be audited and I intend to send this complaint to the ombudsman and the companies that audit Vodacom’s calls. They are definitely not following ethical standards or the law. I wonder how many other people this rep did this to.
