🚨 Vodacom’s Ongoing SIM Swap Vulnerability: Two Identity Thefts in Two Years

I want to make this public so Vodacom, regulators, and the public know just how vulnerable we are. What happened: My identity was ****** due to an unauthorized SIM issuance/swap under my number. It happened last year, and it has happened again. Impact on me: I suffered significant loss, inconvenience, and stress. I had to recover my identity, reissuing documents, and dealing with *****. Attempts at resolution: I reported the first incident to Vodacom, but no meaningful action was taken. After the second incident, I went through the same process, and still no effective measures have been implemented. Why this matters: This is not a one-off error — it has recurred under Vodacom’s watch. For a major telecom provider with millions of customers, continued inaction is unacceptable.
