VODACOM's MOMENT OF SHAME - ZERO STAR RATING PLEASE - BORDERLINE THEFT OR *****
- For the record I have been a client of Vodacom since I started using cell phones. I am now at retiring age meaning I have been with Vodacom for DECADES. Vodacom is in actual fact under the impression that old people do not now anything and can be bamboozled easily. There is absolutely no honesty and NO inclination to render service - only to financially milk the poor old man dry. Shame on you, Vodacom!
- Vodacom, through one of its Direct Selling or affiliate companies *******ly established (extended / renewed) a contract I did not request. I consider opening a SAPS case of *****. (I have the so called Order number and date of said order, obtained from an small Vodacom outlet and learnt that my contract that expires in November 2025, has been extended to 2027!)
- These entities contacted me over the last 6 months indicating that the current contract expires at the end of that particular month. I received approx. 5 different expiry dates explaining all the benefits I'll loose if I do not renew the contract immediately, which by the way will be "cheaper" but with more airtime but alas no data! And all the calls started with " Since you are such a longstanding and valued Vodacom customer, we'd like to offer you......" )
- Truth be told I also learned today that the new contract as airtime AND data. Why the change of heart? And why only ONE number and not TWO expiring since the are 2 numbers (excluding the third expiring in January 2026) linkd to the current contract?
- It is utterly frustrating dealing with Vodacom. When it comes to telephonic renewals and contacts going south (wrong) , VODACOM denies accountability and simply refers you back to the Vodacom Direct or whatever entity, implicating VODACOM has NOTHING to do with this deal.
I had a LOT of bad service experiences with Vodacom and related / contracted companies, over at least 5 decades, saying they are Vodacom. Mixed up ID numbers and contracting parties, watered down deals and the like. Lies about contract expiration dates to get deals done, handsets offered that is really not worth the while etc.
Through it all I stuck with Vodacom. I firmly believe in long term business relationships, acknowledging that this is not a perfect world and mistakes happen. BUT the current issue is not a mistake. It is either a sever case of theft (because the debit order will be running for this "new" contract) or ***** - establishing a contract without my consent.

Vodacom acknowledged the error on their agent's part and ruled in my favor. The erroneous extension of the one contract has been reversed.
Thank you.
