Vodacom's internet connection letting us down more than once!
Good day. I have a few accounts with Vodacom, and the one I am complaining about is the one my daughter uses with her router. She is an online English teacher. Yesterday, 29th June, she was unable to enter her class because the internet was so bad, she could not even open the app she uses to teach. Today, the same thing happened. So, for 2 days, she was unable to work, and she had already lost a job due to internet problems. If this carries on, she will lose another. At the moment, her router is running on 2 G. I spoke to other people in my area, and they have the same problem. I went into Vodacom, and I was not the only person complaining about this. On May 6th and 7th, we had the same problem. The Internet will be okay, and the next moment, it runs on 2 G. Some mornings, she has to reboot her router because the signal is so bad. I was told if the problem continues, to bring my daughter's router with the SIM card to the Vodacom shop the next day, but honestly, what will that do?? If she can work 28 days out of a month, and all of a sudden, for 2 days she can't, it is not the router. I pay my account every month on time. My daughter had to get a Cell C SIM card today, spend money to buy data, just so she can teach. Now we are spending extra money on other service providers' data while having an account with Vodacom, which we can't even use. This is getting out of hand with NO proper assistance.

This is a follow-up to the complaint I posted recently regarding the Vodacom SIM card used in my daughter’s router. She works as an online English teacher and relies completely on stable internet to do her job. After I lodged the complaint, I was told to reply to an email sent on 1 July 2025 — which I did. I also got in touch with someone from Vodashop named Tim, who said my daughter should contact him when the signal is bad. Since then, we’ve sent him multiple screenshots showing how weak the connection is, using speed tests as proof. The suggested “solution” was that we take the SIM card and router into Vodashop so they could change the APN settings. I explained this would be a waste of time. Our neighbor, who uses a newer router, is having the exact same issue. I am also on local WhatsApp groups where many other people in our area are complaining about Vodacom’s poor signal. But when you go to the shop, they act like no one has said a word. Thankfully, my daughter didn’t waste her time going into the shop. She did her own research and asked Tim to send the correct APN settings. She made all the changes exactly as requested and sent proof — and just as we expected, nothing improved. The problem is clearly not the router or SIM card — it’s the network. In the meantime, she’s now spent almost R150 on data from another provider just to be able to teach. She has already lost work because of Vodacom’s poor signal and will likely lose more if this continues. After sending the latest screenshots to Tim, he told us the issue would be escalated again — on Monday. It's now Saturday. When will Vodacom accept responsibility for the fact that their network is not functioning properly in our area? I am asking again for a refund of the money we’ve had to spend on another provider, and I expect this ongoing signal issue to be addressed properly — not brushed off as a SIM or router problem when it clearly isn’t. We pay our Vodacom account on time every month, but we are not getting the service we’re paying for. That’s not acceptable.
