Vodacom’s incompetence

The following is a matter that Vodacom is unable to address due to complete incompetence. As a background to this issue, I was a client with Vodacom on contract for well over 25yrs and decided to change to CellC on prepaid. Not one of my numerous correspondences to Vodacom to date has received a response. This serves as a warning to the public at large.

To: ***; *** Subject: 9NM097908 - *** Dear Sirs

With regards to the subject line, including extensive correspondence and telephonic contact recorded to date with numerous departments and individuals at Vodacom, it remains completely unacceptable that the issue over cancellation of contract; ***, still remains unresolved since 4th March 2020, some 17 months later.

It is safe to say that this issue clearly reflects the absolute incompetence of Vodacom and employees.

To add to the frustration of this, and while I still await a refund of R769.82 from Vodacom, outstanding since 29th April 2021, where it was advised that due to the account reflecting an outstanding balance accumulated after 4th March 2020, and due to the status of the account reflecting ‘pre-legal’, it was confirmed that while settlement of the account was required to proceed with a cancellation, a reimbur*****t of such payment would be received after 30 days.

Further to settling the aforesaid account, without any such reimbur*****t received to date, I still find myself receiving demands for payment via SMS from Vodacom, stating an outstanding balance is overdue on this account since April 2021.

Again, while this issue reflects nothing more than absolute incompetence, it serves to define what Vodacom deems to be correct and proper ‘Customer Care & Service’.

It would be in the best interest of Vodacom to recognise this matter, and address the same in a manner that brings it to resolution without any further delay.

I now await a response.

Yours faithfully Karl DJ Ashby

For the record, with regards to the subject line and that of correspondence previously forwarded, you are again advised that on Wednesday 4th March 2020, all contracts held with your company were cancelled via your call centre.

Reference numbers received via sms for such requests are as follows;

*** *** *** *** *** *** *** ***

It is therefore required that your records are rectified accordingly to reflect the aforesaid cancellation of accounts, and refrain from presenting false account statements with immediate effect.

I now await final confirmation of the said instruction dated 4th March 2020.

Yours faithfully Karl DJ Ashby

With regards to the aforesaid said matter concerning Vodacom, and contact received from a Vodacom consultant named Dean on 23rd & 24th August 2021, whom assured me the that this matter had been resolved, is once again not only nothing more than absolute nonsense, the same further confirms the absolute incompetence and serious systematic failures of Vodacom.

While the matter of continuous monetary demands from Vodacom via SMS was noted as a concern during conversations, I was informed on 24th August 2021, that this matter would be addressed and resolved with Vodacom’s legal department. This clearly has not been the case.

Since the 26th August 2021, I have received numerous phone calls from attorneys demanding payment of an amount that is completely fictitious, confirmed by existing documentation on the matter.

For the record, should the aforesaid issue not be resolved and subsequently I receive notification of a ‘negative credit listing’ by Vodacom, I will not hesitate to litigate with costs for compensation.

I now await confirmation in writing that this matter has been resolved and the said refund processed as stated in conversation of 24th August 2021.
