Vodacoms Inability to Cancel a Contract

<p>In the middle of December 2016 I called vodacom to cancel my contract. They informed me that the contract will be cancelled at the end of December and it will be the last time I will be billed. Happily i took their word for it. In January i went to Telkom to have my number ported only to be informed that my Vodacom contract is still in usage and until cancelled and under pre-paid they will not be able to port my number. Subsequently, since January I call vodacom twice a month - I call Contract Retention, they inform me that the account has been deleted from their side and if there are any issues only the legal will be able to assist. I thereafter speak to Legal who always confirm that the number is indeed cancelled and only contract retention can assist. Contract retention assures me that the number is cancelled. Today i spoke to the supervisor of the legal team and asked for a letter stating that my contract is indeed cancelled. To my amazement i was told that legal cannot issue such letters, i was thereafter volleyed between contract retention and legal neither of the supervisors were able to send me a contract cancellation letter. I truly cannot fathom how it takes 3.5 months to cancel a contract that never gets cancelled. Vodacom reaches new lows on every call I make and im pretty sure they wint be cancelling my contract this month either. </p>
