Vodacom's dishonest employees

Hello Peter,

Vodacom employees are dishonest. I have a contract with Vodacom and have been receiving some add-ons/discounts (which included 100 anytime minutes & 3 gig data) since July 2021. In August this year I was called by a Vodacom consultant for an upgrade and during the time of our call I asked her if nothing will change to my contract once I upgraded. I was promised that my benefits will not be affected.

On the 4th of October, I realised that I had no data on my phone and when I enquired on Thursday, 5 October, I was promised that someone from Vodacom's Cancellations department would call me on the 6th of Oct between 8am - 9am as the department had closed by the time of my call. When I did not receive the call, I took it upon myself to contact Vodacom.

During my call with one of Vodacom's consultants, I was told that they could reactivate the benefit (3GB data), however, there would be an additonal charge on my current contract as they no longer offer that add-on/discount. I did not agree to this as it was not what I was promised when I upgraded my contract. As a matter of principle, Vodacom should have added on the 3GB data, because that is what I was promised. I am now logged into a contract for 2 years which I would not have opted for had I known that the benefit (3GB data) would fall away. I would have gladly continued with my month-to-month contract and not have upgraded it had I been advised that I would no longer receive the 3GB data. The consultant then escalated my query and promised that I would be contacted between 24 - 48 hours.

Today, more than 48 hours later, I called Vodacom as they did not call me as per the conversation I had with the consultant on Friday. When I got through to the Cancellations Department, I was sent from pillar to post and eventually got cut off due to network connectivity issues.

I realised that I was getting nowhere and in the process of trying to resolve this issue am being inconvenienced even further by the dishonestly from the employees of Vodacom who make empty promises to their customers.

I decided to write a review here as I am being inconvenienced unnecessarily and hopefully someone would look into this issue.

Thank you D

Vodacom, you have not honoured our agreement and now you are billing me a higher amount which is not part of the contract. I want out of the contract with NO penalties since you are the ones who breached our contract and please refund me the additional amount you have been billing me since October 2023. You listened to the recording and heard I was telling the truth but you continue to bill me the higher amount. Where are your principles as a company? Do the right thing.
