Vodacom's deep hole of misinformation
I understand why Vodacom has a trust index of 2.3 out of 10. In my opinion, it should be -2. I call for an upgrade on 13 April. Londi helps me - very friendly, very eager to secure the upgrade. The device itself is out of stock, but we will get stock tomorrow (14 April) she says. You will get your phone next week. On 14 April Desmond phones to confirm the upgrade and he assures me I will get the phone next week. No problem, I think. Big mistake. It is next week now. I phone to follow up, like people who are not sitting around twiddling their thumbs do. Get put through from department to department. One person tells me the phones will only come in May (which in Vodacom language, can mean August for all I know). After about 10 phone calls, I end up with one of Londi's colleagues who promises me she will get Londi to phone me back (21 April). No phone call. On 22 April I am cleverer. I phone the correct department the first time. Celeste tells me she will leave a message for Londi and Lisa, Londi's team leader. They will phone me back. About 5 hours later, no phone call and I try again. I get put through and cut off at least 3 times. Then I end with Celeste again. She tells me there will be stock tomorrow and I will get my phone next week. (This is more than a week after Londi told me exactly the same story.) I call her bluff. Then she goes on a whole long rant about how they cannot see how many people are on the backorder list, blah blah blah. No, she says, there is NOBODY IN VODACOM that can tell me how long it will take for my phone to be delivered. So I have no way to decide whether I want to cancel the upgrade or wait for the phone. Thobile will phone me back, she says. Yeah right. I eat my hat. So, this is how Vodacom tricks you into clinching an upgrade. Every week they blatantly lie to you by saying the phone will come tomorrow, and you will get it next week. They hope that you will either not follow up, or by the time you figured out their game, you are so tired that you just wait for the phone. Is this how you do business, Vodacom? It is ********* and dishonest. Shame on you.
