Vodacom's decline

I received the following sms form Vodacom which unfortunately seems legitimate:

"Hi, Your ********@vodamail.co.za email account will be automatically migrated to a new premium service on 31 March 2022, and will cost R29pm. Reply 1 to Accept or 2 to Decline, to 31118. Click here for more info: http://voda.com/vodacom-email. T&Cs apply. Further together"

For a loyal customer with contract worth thousands over the year, they way this was communicated and even with links not working, is is terribly poor. This smacks of desperate greed and seems to fall in line with vodacom's decline of late.

I do appreciate Vodacom's representatives coming back to me. I however stand by my view that a paid ISP should make their email service free as part of their ISP offering. It is not easy to drop an email address after many years, but similar to banking services, when one does cross that line eventually, then you leave that service provider forever. I think this is a strategically wrong move by Vodacom's management but I will leave it at that for now.
