Vodacom's Deceptive Upgrade Tactics: A Trust Betrayed

We have been customers of Vodacom for the last 20-odd years. Always been reasonably happy with the service offered. Until last week, when a call centre agent called to remind us that the outstanding router for our upgrade last December had not been delivered, and they can do so now. Indeed at the time of the upgrade, they were not available, but we were not fussed about it because it was not mission critical for us to have it. We clearly asked the agent, "If you deliver these, nothing changes on the current contracts" which he confirmed. The routers got delivered, and to our surprise, the contracts were extended by 24 months. And now the all mission to get them collected and the upgrade reversed starts. Was a frustration for the customer and unneeded courier costs. I am not sure if the agents need to reach targets, but the deceptive approach feels like a ****

Dear Vodacom Consumer Website Team,
Ah, the joys of modern communication! It's been a delightful 5 days since your prompt assurance that a consultant would be in touch "in due course." I must say, your definition of "due course" is refreshingly relaxed. I've been eagerly awaiting this call, checking my phone every few minutes, just in case I missed it. Perhaps your consultants are using carrier ***eons these days? Or maybe they're just perfecting the art of suspense?

On a more serious note, I'd appreciate it if someone could actually get back to me regarding my complaint. I understand things can get busy, but a little follow-through would be splendid.

Looking forward to our eventual chat!
