Vodacom’s Complete Lack of Support for a Customer in Financial Distress

I am writing this complaint out of deep frustration after more than six weeks of attempting to get assistance from Vodacom regarding a matter that urgently requires attention and sensitivity.

I am a long-standing Vodacom customer, and despite my account currently being in good standing, I have been experiencing severe financial strain and have been trying—proactively and in good faith—to find a workable solution before any payment issues arise.

Unfortunately, Vodacom has made this impossible.

Since mid-October, I have been passed from one department to another with no meaningful assistance, no follow-up, and in many cases, no response at all. I have engaged Customer Care, Collections/Payment Arrangements, Upgrades/Cancellations/Retentions, and finally Legal Collections—each time on Vodacom’s own instruction—and in every case, the process has collapsed with no outcome.

Despite emailing and phoning repeatedly, I still have zero clarity on what is happening behind the scenes, and no one seems to take ownership of the matter.

To highlight the level of confusion and lack of internal coordination, here are some of the service request numbers Vodacom generated throughout my journey:

*** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** ***

To date, I have no idea which of these are open, closed, valid, duplicated, or abandoned, and no one at Vodacom has been able to provide an explanation of what actions (if any) are being taken.

The most disappointing part is that I have tried everything possible to resolve this responsibly and transparently, yet Vodacom’s internal systems and processes seem incapable of handling a customer in financial distress. I have been advised to wait, advised to call departments that cannot assist, advised to deliberately fall into arrears, advised to contact Legal Collections (who do not respond), and ultimately left completely without support.

This entire experience has left me feeling deeply concerned about Vodacom’s treatment of customers in vulnerable situations. I am simply asking for one competent, accountable individual to review my case and provide guidance, yet Vodacom has not made this possible.

I genuinely hope that posting here prompts Vodacom to finally look into this matter seriously and provide the assistance that should have been available from the start.

Reviewer Update
Thank you for the response, but unfortunately no consultant has contacted me from Vodacom’s side as stated. Every interaction so far has been initiated by me, and each time I have been met with the same inability or unwillingness to assist that I described in my original review.

As a result, I am still in the exact same position, despite escalating this repeatedly since October and despite Vodacom acknowledging my complaint here on Hellopeter.
I remain available and willing to engage, but I have yet to receive any proactive contact or workable support from Vodacom as promised.
