Vodacom you suck: it would be more pleasurable riding a porcupine whilst naked than continuing to try and get assistance from a " support team" that is anything but....

A good example of what lack of competition does: supports utter incompetence, indifference towards customers, sheer laziness: in short, if I could, I would shut down my account, but where would I go that is any better??!! However I have closed all my contracts with Vodacom except for the one under discussion. I have been trying to activate the one number facility so I can use my Apple watch without the iPhone present: on the face of it a very simple thing to do: not with Vodacom!! Since Friday last week, I have spent upwards of 9 hours of my time on phone calls, emails, SMS's, trying on countless occasions to activate based on the instructions of the Vodacom " support specialists", visiting stores, and here I am 6 days later, having just received an email advising that " Dear customer Your service request no EC-2947-2VJOP9 has been closed Kind regards Vodacom Business Support Team". But I am still unable to activate the one number service!! So Vodacom's solution is to just shut down the communications so I have to start all over again!! Must be wonderful to have a business where you don't have to perform as the customers have no option to go elsewhere due to no competition. And phoning doesn't work as they advise you they can't help: you must send an email. Going to a store is also singularly unhelpful, as they advise you that, wait for it, they can't help you, you must send an email. The system supports the incompetence and laziness and does nothing to assist the customer. Is there any way to get past the script-readers to someone who might actually want to help? Doesn't seem like it.

I am not holding my breath. It is now 15:26 and no-one has called or messaged or emailed. Plus I am still waiting on 4 calls from consultants who swore blind they would contact me over the past few days but did not do so..... This is probably a machine generated response and there is no actual intention to solve the issue. Watch this space

An update: it is now 8:50, almost 24 hours later, and all I have had is an email from Nosipho advising me that her colleague Boitumelo would call me between 08:00 and 08: 30 this morning, and that she tried to call me yesterday. I have one missed call from yesterday, from an unknown number which rang for 5 seconds. My phone rang at 08:22 this morning from an unknown number and when I answered after 3 seconds, the caller hung up. So methinks all Boitumelo and Nosipho are doing is building up a record of calls to my number so they can say"I tried to call him but he didn't answer". I have tested my number and it goes to voicemail after some 15 seconds: there has been no genuine attempt to contact me.

A final update. Boitumelo got hold of me on Friday and the issue is now resolved: the one number facility is active and working!
