Vodacom work hard to try make me not upgrade with them
My Vodacom contract expires at the end of this month. Contract expires and hand set fully paid for. Before this time I was constantly asked by Vodacom if I didn't want to sign up for a new contact. Wary of cancellation costs and outstanding handset installments I waited till the end. Yesterday I called Vodacom and did an upgrade on the line. New Iphone 6s on a 4 gig a month data contract. Costs on website and confirmed by consultant was R589. On the old contract I had an additional 3 gig data top up at R299 per month. I made it clear that this should be cancelled after Vodacom stated it could not be transferred to my sons number on my same account. The new contract has 4 gigs why do I need the additional 3 gigs top up. I then get an sms which confirms quote but the amount is R897 and not R589. SMS says 1 to accept 2 to alter 3 to decline. i opt for 2 alter. Message is consultant will call me. I decide to call in speak to a Johan. He checks and the 3 gigs data is till there at R299 which takes the R589 up to the R897 He cant alter and send new quote for me to accept. The original consultant will call me. I receive an e-mail quote which shows R897 if I have a problem please call in. By today at 10 ish I have had no calls no new quotes. I call back in. Quote on system shows R589. Good. can I please get sent a copy so I can accept and the order placed. It will happen else someone will call me. I wait till 14h35 and call back in. They say quote is there can they now send it to me. I query why I needed to call in and ask and why quote wasn't sent. I get the brush off. They will send quote. I ask if they think this is good service. Do i want the quote or not. I ask can I speak to a manager as I feel based on this its better to cancel whole deal and ask MTN for a new contract. Response is ok so we shouldn't send quote. I ask if they think its okay that a customer needs to follow up to check when they will send the corrected quote but when he gets through there isn't an issue but they can send quote now. Clearly no pro-active service it needs customer to prompt to get what he requires to sign up to pay them money. Clearly they dont need my business. Final word from Vodacom is someone will call me. I go online to MTN and fill in an online application. I get a mail acknowledging receipt and someone will call me. Right now first company who reverts to me will get the deal. I hope and hope its MTN. However the pain of changing numbers makes me hope its Vodacom. Just to who ever reads this at Vodacom. When calling in to customer care its difficult to hear the consultant. The amount of background noise is unbearable. Some one might say its a call centre but if you listen to the content its staff talking to each other joking and shouting. Its no wonder issues get messed up.
i decided to call in and check that my existing contract would expire and not be renewed monthly from the month end.
another bad experience.
the consultant kept telling me to listen and then when i queried what he was saying i was told i don't understand.
Im fluent in english have been for the last 58 years.
i allowed the guy to try explain to me as he was trying to keep me as a customer.
bottom line is the instrument that i wanted wont be available until the 16 august.
thats okay if i can get new contract will carry on using old phone .
no i cant go onto new contract until i get new phone.
so must stay on old contract until i get new phone. but my 3 gig data on old contract has already been removed. but its okay i get 650 mb on old contract and he can give me an extra 2 gigs free, he is a retention consultant. i guess this title means he can give out freebies as he sees fit at his discretion. makes me wonder why i didn't get that free air time on my contract.
i reply it doesn't help me as 2.65 gig isn't enough and that why i opted for a 4 gig contract. consultant gets aggro. if i don't want his help must he cancel. I say he isn't listening to me and his attitude is getting aggro. he again asks must i cancel. I decide to terminate call. he calls me back i say i will take it up with management and terminate call. he calls me back. must he cancel. I say please don't call me and he drops call.
i then get an sms saying he has terminated the contract. however my upgrade is not yet in place. but if he out of spite has processed my cancellation even though i did not explicitly agree to it, then perhaps i need to move to MTN.
what a mess what bad service what bits of information are not processed and communicated but effects the whole situation.
I have other contracts with Vodacom I guess ill cancel those as well.
Ipad data contracts, contracts for my sons phone.
Those will be cancelled.
