Vodacom won't let me go

I took a contract years ago, through Nashua mobile and that contract was later on taken over by vodacom without any communication to me whatsoever. I just noticed the debit order name had changed and the amount. So after having the contract for about 3 years using the phone only, not the simcard, I decided last year March to call vodacom and cancel all contracts.

While on the call, the lady had said the last debit order will be in April as you have to give 1 calender month notice.

Come June 2020 the debit order is still going off my account. So I called again, same promises were given 1 calender month and this time because of how apologetic the lady was I thought okay, they really will cancel it.

Come October 2020 I see the same debit order, this time I call again and I'm starting to get irritated. Always the same apologies and excuses. This was the last time I contacted Vodacom on the number when I realized they couldn't trace my previous phonecalls due to some supposed system upgrade and the lady even wanted to offer me another contract at the end of the call.

Come December 2020, the debit order is still going off, so then I start sending emails. Clear instructions were sent, I want the contract cancelled and the debit orders to be removed from my account. I received a call from Vodacom saying "all calls are recorded" (biggest lie of the century) and I went through all the details I typed above and asked that my contracts be cancelled. Again with the apologies and 1 month calender statement and when the call finished I thought okay, maybe this time.

JANUARY 2021 the debit order is still going off. FEBRUARY 2021 another email trying again to get the contracts cancelled. Same story. March 2021 the debit order goes off again. Another set of emails fly off, I get promised on a call and on an email that this will be escalated to a senior for immediate attention aswell as possible re-imbur*****t for having force this contract on me for a year now.

I called my bank, reversed the debit order and even explained to them the way vodacom is holding me captive. I sent another email and said I am reversing the debit order, they have had enough time to cancel my contract and again it was said it would be escalated to a senior and re-imbur*****t stories were dangled in my face.

Today, 06 May 2021 I receive a call from Vodacoms debt collectors that I have 48hrs to pay arrears of R670.

I have sent them emails now, resending the personal information, plus adding that if in 24hrs the issue is not resolved I will be going to my lawyers.

It is absolutely disgusting how Vodacom has continued to fail to deliver an actual service to not only a long-term client, but a human being. To know how I've been promised this and that only to receive a phonecall with 48hrs to pay for a contract I've been trying to get out of, within my rights, is emotionally exhausting and disgusting to the core.

I honestly feel I am paying to have my consumers rights violated time and time again, just to be a vodacom-contract captive.

They have lost all credibility in my eyes. The lack of integrity is astonishing and now I have a debt collector on my case and only 48hrs to get an issue resolved that vodacom has failed to resolve ON THEIR SIDE, for over a year.
