Vodacom won't cancel my subscription despite being out of contract

Been trying since the start of the year to cancel my Vodacom contract. Apparently I'm on the old system so could not get it done but the customer care agent promised it would get done. 6 months later I'm still waiting for it to happen. I'm not in the country which I advised but I get told to call a number that doesn't work.
