Vodacom WASP services

Good day,

I would like to report Vodacom subscribing me without approval to WASP services which was costing me over R500 a month.

I purchased the new phone several months ago and upon signing the contract it was R500 roughly less a month. When going back to Vodacom to sort out several issues I saw on Vodacom's screen accidentally that my monthly amount I have to pay is R500 roughly higher and inquired why it is higher in which case the response was you need to wait for you monthly statement. This I left for several months and today went to Vodacom to casually ask them to amend and credit where mistakes have been made. I was told that this is your own fault and you have subscribed to something by probably clicking on a link. I then quickly googled in front of them "p-squarem-hooked-c-01" which I found out was WASP services which are not supposed to be subscribed to and blocked. Vodacom has been taken to court about this before I was told by an acquaintance.

There is no way I would have subscribed to this as I am in IT and daily the individual telling end users the dangers of clicking on random links and subscribing to what you don't know. When I "googled p-squarem-hooked-c-01" I only saw dozens of recent complaints on Hello Peter to Vodacom relating to this subscription which was never asked for. When confronting Vodacom about the coincidences I just got a shrug from them. Please can we get Vodacom to acknowledge their mistakes and credit the money that was ****** from me. Since I am an individual and not a large company they would never listen to me.

I have already reported this to WASPA and ICASA.

Regards, Marc
