Vodacom - Voda**** / Voda****!

Why does Vodacom advertise 24 month contracts at a fixed fee when they increase your subscription half way through??? I spent almost 45 minutes on the phone this morning trying to find out why my debit order had increased this month only to be told that the price of my package has increased! How can Vodacom do this without the customers knowledge or consent?? When you sign a contract you choose a package that you can afford and know that will go off your account every month. Now Vodacam increases your monthly subscription cost without your knowledge or consent - surely this is *******??? I will be cancelling my contract as soon as I can. No more Voda**** for me!

Reviewer Update
I received an email and sent a reply last week Monday, 04/06/2018. See below conversation. To date I have not heard a thing from Vodacom. I have therefore reversed the amount you took from my account as I am waiting for Vodacom to send me a signed copy of my contract: This is unacceptable. I understand that the VAT increased, but that was by 1% so I accept the increase from R268 to R271. But to increase my subscription by a further R47 is unacceptable. I don’t care if I get more data, smses or minutes, I did not ask for that so quite frankly you can keep them. I chose a package I could afford and it was advertised as a 24 month contract with a fixed rate…. My mother has had an MTN contract for over 20 years and has never had something like this happen. I have spoken to a number of friends and colleagues as well who have never heard of such nonsense. Please send me a signed copy of my contract where it states that my subscription can increase even though you advertised it as a 24 month fixed contract. I will be reversing the debit order of R318.41 and will do a manual payment for R271.41 as this is what I signed for. I will take this up with the Ombudsman as well as share over social media, your business practices are ********* and you advertise falsely, telling a person the contract is fixed for 24 months and then increasing it halfway through with no communication or consent form your customers… Disgusting. Dear Lisa Thank you for your Hellopeter complaint. The price increase was due to the recent VAT increase as well as our annual price adjustment. In our ongoing commitment to lower the cost of communication many bundles have not increased in price however as the VAT affected us across the board, we could not keep the subscription charge the same. Most of the plans that was increased also received an increase in bundled minutes, sms or data. You may view the details of your price plan here: http://www.vodacom.co.za/vodacom/shopping/plans/smart-top-up-s-plus You may at any time request a migration to a lower package which will not extend your contract period, only change the price plan you are on. To do so, you can visit a store, call 082 135/111 (free call from any Vodacom SIM) or email ********** You may view the full contract terms and conditions here: https://myvodacom.secure.vodacom.co.za/vodacom/terms/contract-terms-and-conditions Kind regards Theo Vodacom Hellopeter team
