Vodacom -Urgent Complaint: ******** Deactivation of Cell Number and Incorrect Charges

Vodacom’s slogan, “Further Together”, suggests reliability, accountability, and progress. Unfortunately, what happened yesterday and today reflects the opposite.

My father (84 years old) had his cell number disconnected yesterday without any prior notice. He was previously on contract and has been on prepaid for the past two years. When we realised we could no longer reach him, I contacted Vodacom for assistance.

After speaking to five different consultants, I was advised to make a payment of R1,128.99, with the assurance that this would result in the reinstatement of his number. I later discovered that this payment was not required, yet his number has still not been restored.

To make matters worse, I was informed that no supervisor was available because it is a Friday and that I should “understand”. This response is unacceptable.

My father is not well, and communication is critical. The loss of his number has serious implications, including:

Communication with family and friends

Financial and banking notifications

Insurance and medical contacts

Essential personal and emergency communication

This situation is distressing, avoidable, and entirely unacceptable.

I hereby request the following as a matter of urgency:

Immediate reinstatement of my father’s original cell number.

A full explanation for the disconnection without notice.

A refund of the incorrectly advised payment.

Confirmation of measures to prevent this from happening again.

I expect this matter to be treated with the urgency and seriousness it deserves. Please escalate this to a senior manager immediately and provide feedback as soon as possible.
