Vodacom Upgrade Nightmare
In June 2017 I was due for a upgrade. I called Vodacom telephonic upgrades dept. I concluded the upgrade contract over the phone. It started going wrong when the new handset was delivered in July. It was the incorrect handset so it was a huge hassle to return it to Vodacom. They took a few weeks to acknowledge receipt of phone. They then informed me my upgrade is cancelled and I need to do the upgrade from start. The terms had now changed to my disadvantage. The more I protested that original terms are binding as the error was on their side, the more I got the run around. When I eventually got the correct handset my next 4 months of bills were a mess, still are. I am being doubled billed for 2 handsets for 4 months now, which I have still not sorted out. WARNING - apparently you due for an upgrade 3 months prior to current contract expiry. If you upgrade you will be still be billed for your old handset for 3 months. They don't tell you this when upgrading. My old handset is still fine so I would not of upgraded if Vodacom told me of the double billing for 3/4 months. Very ********* business practice. On top of this after 2 months they terminated my 24 months 2GB data package in error. I have spent many hours on the phone with many departments trying to rectify their errors. Strange thing is all the responses come from same playbook. Its the customers fault, check your contract etc. My contract was over the phone and I recorded the exact timestamp on both occasions. They do record conversations but when these conversations don't support their version they choose to ignore them, how convenient. Very disappointed with the continued shocking service levels bordering on breach of contract. But they got you by the proverbial as you cant cancel without paying huge cancelation fees. In 2 years time I will definitely be leaving VODACOM and moving to hopefully a more honest and service orientated provider.
