Vodacom upgrade = Elite Mobile ****

I upgraded my vodacom contract and now I am getting messages that I have signed up for hotspotter, recuebox and techtrace.

I never agreed to this and am upset that my personal information was not kept confidential as Vodacom needs t o be complying with The Protection of Personal Information Act, No 4 of 2013 which promotes the protection of personal information by public and private bodies.

These services need to be removed as I never agreed to them. I have lost faith in Vodacom.

Hi Vodacom I await your call. It appears that it may not be Elitemobile but I am very concerned as to how these people have my phone number and ID number soon after changing my contract. Please advise me how I should proceed.

Still no contact from Vodacom. I hope they are doing something to try combat this problem - there are so many people complaining about this same situation. Are these other service providers linked to Vodacom or not? Do they only get your banking details if you give it to them over the phone or do they have access to Vodacoms data base?

Thank you for contacting me. There are so many complaints but no answers on Hello Peter. So here is my two cents: I think that the text messages are some sort of phishing ****. I would advise others with this problem to not contact the phone number in the text messages and do not give your banking details over the phone. The text messages are there to try and make you phone them. (still don't know why there is a link with Vodacom or Elite Mobile) For now I am satisfied that Vodacom has kept my information confidential and will hopefully not be getting any strange debit orders.
