Vodacom unauthorised debits for services not provided
On or about the 1st of March 2018, I upgraded my Vodacom contract to include an Acer laptop onto my Vodacom account. However, I contacted the Vodacom call centre and cancelled the Acer contract and on or about 9th March 2018 the Acer laptop was collected from me and returned to Vodacom. I was advised that the contract will be terminated and a request will be logged for a refund. During September 2018, 7 months after the contract was terminated, Vodacom was still debiting my account for the Acer laptop even though I was not in possession of it and I was not receiving any services from Vodacom in this regard. I spoke to Keketso Malibek, a call centre supervisor in the upgrades department to enquire about the ongoing debit. In Keketso’s email response to me dated 3 September 2018, she advised that “As per telephone discussion earlier on, I have stated that the contract will be reversed and request will be logged to the accounts department for a refund.” (See below) On 14 May 2019, one year and 2 months after returning the Acer and terminating the Acer contract with Vodacom, Vodacom is still debiting my account and it appears that they have not noted the termination on their system. This is appalling to say the least. When I went to Vodaworld Midrand on 14 May 2019 to follow up with the termination, the representatives just passed the buck and could not resolve the issue.
