Vodacom unable to provide basic pre-sales technical information for FTTH

Last week I phoned Vodacom several times to enquire about their FTTH offering, but the sales team was unable to provide me with the technical information I required before signing up. At some stage, the anonymoid I spoke with, transferred my call into the abyss of the Vodacom technical support system. The call made a few hops and finally came to rest at the feet of an automated call answering system, announcing in a kind and professional female voice that the person at that extension is not available right now. "Beeeeep... Silence..."

It took me a few hours to shake off the frustration and disappointment I felt at a company that realised a long time ago that customers are people who have no other choice but to deal with telco companies that really don’t value them at all, and therefore found it more cost effective to just completely abandon the notion of putting words like "customer" and "satisfaction" together in the same sentence, except off course within their automated call systems and marketing material, which are all utterly incapable of either guilt or shame.

Pulling up my bootstraps, I logged service request SR170 ********** 34 by sending an email to a person called ********** , at ********** ********** putting my previously asked questions into writing, hoping to start a fruitful conversation with a humanoid on Vodacom’s end, but as yet, no one has answered.

Although today has been 4 days since I logged the request, I remain hopeful that answers will reach me soon. If not, I will have to climb the next hill in search of a telco provider that is eager for business, not entirely convinced that there any to be found.

Please help, Vodacom.
