Vodacom Unable to Fulfill Advertised Deal

Good day

I’ve been trying to get a deal from Vodacom that appeared in the May 2017 edition of their magazine (Nationwide), this was for a Samsung S8 and Frontier. However, I was informed from the 07th of May that there was no Stock of the Samsung Gear Frontier and that I had to wait. I agreed and been given numerous dates to follow up on, with served to be a waste of my time.

I dealt with the Voda Shop in Eastgate, with a consultant named Fanie. He tried to assist but informed me that it was Vodacom as a whole that did not have stock. I called numerous Vodacom Shops across Johannesburg and Durban and was given the same information.

As the month drew to a close and Vodacom still did not have stock, I called the call center to lay a complaint, this was on the 24th May 2017, and spoke to Ntombi, who informed me that I could still get the upgrade the next month as the quote had been put through on my number.

I then checked with the store and they informed me that they don’t deal with issues such as this and if they gave me this information than they need to do the deal for me.

I then called the call center on the 6th of June and spoke to Sher who assisted by emailing the area manager, Bongi Malfas. But I did not hear back from her.

I called again on the 8th of June and spoke to Tulu, who told me that she could assists and would send me her details to proceed, which she did not. I called the switch board again and spoke to Sher who advised me that Bongi spoke to the store manager and I could do the deal and get the watch at a later stage. When I went to the store on the 10th of June, I was told sorry please leave, Bongi does not have any authority to make decisions. This was after a 90 min wait. I got the consultant to send me an email for reference.

I called the switchboard back on the 12th of July and was informed that I should email Bongi directly, which I did, but did not get any reply.

I think it is atrocious that Vodacom would put an advert out that they do not have relevant stock of, and thereafter not be able to at least create the deal so that when they do get stock they could give the customer. It is sad that even with the Consumer Protection Act, companies can put out adverts and not fulfil them.
