Vodacom *****ulently opened an account in my name

A *****ulent account was opened in my name at Vodacom. I noticed when Vodacom debited my account in October 2023. I went and queried it at the Vodacom store and they told me to get an affidavit and a copy of my ID with 3 samples of my signature of which I did in November 2023. I handed it at the store so that they can send it to the ***** units. I was promised I will receive a call from ***** unit and no call came.

I went back to the store 27 December 2023, I was advised we need to re-start the process of which we did. Again I didn't receive a call from Vodacom. Instead Vodacom kept on debiting my account. Each time I reversed the debit order. I went again to the store 27 January 2024. Again we re-deed the the procedure again. Still no call From ***** department, instead I am being harassed by MBD, the Vodacom unit for collections. In March of 2024 I started receiving 3 calls a day from the debt collection side of Vodacom.

I emailed the ***** email and got an automated response on the 16th of April 2024 and got a reference number EC-1TLS-38D91I. Every time the Vodacom collections called me, I gave them the reference number. That happened an average of 3 times a day. I went back again to the Vodacom store end of April 2024. This time the store decided to call the ***** unit and I spoke to them and they promised an investigation and a speed resolution. On the 14th of May 2024 I received a call and an email saying the investigation has confirmed that my situation is *****. Its now all over. The calls from Vodacom didn't stop.

Fast forward 25 May 2024 I receive a letter from MBD, the collections unit of Vodacom saying I must pay R23 353.14 outstanding from my account within 7 days otherwise legal action will be taken against me. This is bad service. I have never owned a Vodacom account in my life. My credit score has been affected as Vodacom decided to report to the credit bureau that I have skipped payments when in actual fact I don't have an account with them. If I had financial means I will be taking legal action against Vodacom because they opened an account in my name without my Knowledge and they attempted to debit my account 5 times.

A big giant like Vodacom is expected to do better than this. As usual the response will be that someone will call and they never do.

Good day

Thank you for your response

I dont understand ..."Kindly be advised you are responsible for the balance after the credit has been passed." Explain in simple language what this means.
Again l received a letter (29 May 2024) from MBD saying l must pay.

As far as l am concerned, l dont owe vodacom anything. I never opened an account with vodacom. I have never owned a vodacom sim card or contract in my entire life. Hence l dont understand why l should pay anything to vodacom. I have to call your legal team at a cost because l dont own a vodacom sim.

Regards
