Vodacom *****ulent contracts
In May of 2023 I noticed a sudden deduction from my account by Vodacom. It was a large amount in excess of R3 000. It was strange as I did not have a Vodacom contract, nor have I ever had one. I reported it to FNB and they reversed the charge and logged it as ***** for the amount that was deducted to stop future deductions like this. This again happened in June, which had me worried was that the amount was higher still which caused me to think that this was a rolling amount or an amount that had built up due to a fee not being paid. I went to my nearest Vodacom store in Woodlands Mall and they were of no help whatsoever. Only after I went for a second time with a friend that knows about the information act was I able to find out that two contracts had been taken out on my name with only my first name, surname and bank account details. The number provided was attached to a certain "Sona" from the Bez Valley Clinic (deliver address) and that the transaction was done online. The Vodacom store was of no further help with how to resolve this *****ulent contract. I received the necessary e-mail address and what to report in the e-mail with which supporting documents to send from FNB and followed the procedure. I received a short answer within a week to state that they are looking into the case and that I would hear from them again within 7-14 days. It is now August, another deduction has been put through my account and still no response from Vodacom has been received nor any action. Every month they try to make the deduction of a *****ulent contract and so lower my credit rating. Here are my issues: 1. How are online contracts being approved without an ID or proper address? 2. How are contracts approved and delivered without a copy of an ID and Proof of residence being asked by the delivery company? (Cell C and MTN does this). 3. Why is the process so slow, at least communicate with a worried person whose life is being ruined by *****sters.
If this is Vodacom's reaction to *****, I feel sorry for their actual customers who are at the mercy of a company that clearly could care less.
