VODACOM *****ULANT ACCOUNT - (PREPAID CUSTOMER) NEVER HAD A CELLPHONE CONTRACT!
I am Tashreeq Williams, a South African citizen with ID: ... On the 09 November 2024 I went onto Experian’s ClearScore platform to vet my Standard Bank Home Loan balance (for a personal cost exercise) only to discover a *****ulent Vodacom account (in default) attached to my credit profile. This comes on the backdrop of a telecom and follow-up email with a company known as VVM Debt collectors on the 30 January 2024, a call and email I’d initially identified as suspicious / SPAM. They requested an ID and 6 specimen signatures, something I did not feel comfortable submitting especially since the act of ***** originated under the watch of their so-called client. I submitted an affidavit confirming my stance with a sworn statement signed by myself. I’d immediately requested proof of the signed contract, a statement of account confirming all details, their CIPC details as well as details of their so-called client. I’ve yet to receive a response. To further expound I am a prepaid subscriber with TELKOM Mobile and have been for a number of years. I have never subscribed to a cellphone contract, nor short-term contracts, nor any insurance product with any mobile communications company (let alone Vodacom) and/or their subsidiaries / franchisees. I’ve no debt other than a Standard Bank Home Loan. My only current insurance product is my Home Owners insurance (an associated cost to my Home Loan). I’ve a credit profile I’ve worked very hard to keep clean and will not have my good name tarnished. It is extremely concerning, and disheartening, that a firm as large as Vodacom will have this sort of *****ulent activity slip through the cracks under their watch.
To clarify, I am not a Vodacom customer.
Your response re: your attempts to make contact couldn't be further from the truth.
I'd missed a call from your office on Friday (whilst at mosque for Friday prayers). I've subsequently returned your call and none of your call centre staff could identify who the call was from nor could they re-direct me to the correct department even after providing the reference number (I've attached evidence of the returned call with my correspondence to you).
