Vodacom took advantage of my 80 year old Grandmother. Disgusting!

A Vodacom salesperson called my Grandmother while she was in hospital and on medication. She was told that her package was due for an upgrade and that they needed her address to deliver her new phone. Confused, she told them that she was happy with her current phone. A few days later a new phone was delivered to her physical address. My Gran did not want it and did not even open it. All of a sudden my Gran received a bill for R3.5k. It appears that not only did the salesperson push a phone onto my Gran that she did not want, they also changed the contract from a set capped amount, to an Open contract.

We then went into the Vodacom store in Fourways to sort this out. A gentleman working at that branch named Themba went out of his way to try and help us to get Vodacom to correct the issue. Eventually he was told that Vodacom has no details on this but if he can get the delivery number, they would send the courier to come and collect the phone and cancel the charges. Themba then had to do his own investigative work to track down the delivery number, as apparantly Vodacom do not keep any records. A few days later with the number tracked down, we were again in store to see Themba. This time Themba was redirected to a new person every 5 minutes. He was given multiple numbers ( ********** , ********** , 0861 236 666) which he dialled in front of us, none of which resulted in a person on the other end of the line. When he asked to speak to a supervisor, he was put on hold for 20 mins before the original person picked the phone back up. Themba gave me a list of people who he was passed onto, without being able to get through to the first person who promised he could assist if we could track down the delivery number.

And at the end of the day, after 2 hours on the phone, we were told sorry, nobody can help. So apparently Vodacom feels it is ethical to call an 80 year old woman who is already confused due to age, and even more so while on heavy medication, and push a phone onto her that she did not want in the first place. Just to make a quick buck. While they are at it, why not change her over to an open contract without her knowledge, to take advantage of her even further? And to top it all off, if she tries to fix it, just keep transferring her to someone else until eventually they can just deny that they can do anything to help!

I've never seen an established business do something so low down and dirty in all my life. I am actually physically disgusted. Shame on you Vodacom! Utterly shameful.
