VODACOM THINK TWICE
If there was an option of giving Vodacom no stars I would choose that option. They have given me endless grief regarding an upgrade deal that they double billed me for in the last month and which they still have not corrected the billing. I will be paying for something this month that I did not agree to. The icing on the cake though is the problem that I have experienced in getting my phone repaired. I handed in my phone for repairs on 15 April 2023 and was advised on 23 May 2023 that Nokia could not repair my phone and that they would be issuing me with a credit for the same. Vodacom advised that this credit would take 24 to 48 hours to process and that it would be sent to the store where I had handed in the phone for repairs. I would have to use the credit to get a replacement phone. I queried why I would have to use the credit at that store to buy a phone when I was advised that the credit would not be for the value of the phone at purchase price and was advised that I would need to send an e-mail to escalations at Vodacom for them to answer that query. I did this and received an automated message advising me that the query would be responded to within 24 hours. That was on 24 May 2023. Needless to say, there was no response from them. I contacted the store on 27 May 2023 and they advised that they were informed of the credit but no further communication had been received. I tried phoning the Vodacom repairs number but received a voice message that I had an invalid job number. I then contacted their customer care number and managed to get past the job number bit only to receive a voice message saying that the call could not be answered. In frustration I sent a complaint to ICASA who today advised that this matter fell outside of their jurisdiction and that I must contact the National Consumer Commission!. I will most certainly do this, however I would urge consumers to think twice about taking on Vodacom as a service provider. I have been their customer for over 20 years and their service has steadily gotten worse. This is generally what happens when companies grow too large and arrogance and apathy set in.
