Vodacom, the silent "service" provider!!

It has been a week since I have taken in my phone for the 3rd time in a month and guess what, still no answer from Vodacom!!!

I spoke to Ian last week that works in the repair center, he told me he would "get right on it" and tell Paul (some kind of superior I would imagine) to get everything sorted.

After I had to call on Wednesday Paul told me that it looks like I might be getting a new phone because the other one is very damanged "...latest Friday we will have feedback" ITS FRIDAY PAUL!!!!! WHERE IS MY FEEDBACK?????!!!!!!

I tried calling today, 3 times, but everytime Paul is in a meeting or is out or will return my phone call. WHAT IS GOING ON????

This is what happend 2 weeks ago...

Well Vodacom…my iPhone fell 2 weeks ago, we took it to the Vodacom Clearwater shop to book it in, we were helped by Keanu that in my opinion was still recovering from the night before, he booked the phone in with no hassle and we left. Through the week I received sms’s stating where the phone is in the repair process and finally on Saturday I received an sms telling me that my phone is ready for collection…

Shooting through to the mall, the lady helping us went to the back and got the phone, when arrival back at the counter she asked “did they fix it?” my response “well you tell me”. As she took the phone out from the packaging it hadn’t been touched. Reading the report that came with the device she said that we didn’t deactivate it. We?? No!! Vodacom was supposed to tell me to deactivate the device!! She then suggested that we take it to Cresta as they are a “repair center”. With a sigh and a grunt we get in the car and off to Cresta.

There a very lovely lady called Johanna who told us what to do and how to do it helped us. The phone gets booked in FOR THE SECOND TIME. As usual I start getting sms’s telling me where the phone is in the repair process and on Thursday (after I had to call) I get an sms telling me that the phone is ready for collection.

I shoot through (living and working in Honeydew is not just around the corner) and collect the phone, Carlo helped me and managed to get everything sorted out in a reasonable amount of time. After I get home and start setting up the phone again I notice that something isn’t quite right. The screen is dull, as if the brightness is turned to half way. That being the only issue I think I can handle that for the next year or so until I upgrade. Last night sitting with friends I wanted to show them something on YouTube and the phone decides to go crazy!! Doing it’s own thing, selecting videos, pulling up the keyboard and collapsing videos. I also noticed that my battery isn’t what it uses to be. Dropping in percentages by the minute.

So this afternoon I decide to take it back to Vodacom Cresta as it has a 3-month warranty for the repair. Now I completely understand waiting in line and queuing when it is busy but there were staff just standing around doing nothing, staring at me without offering to help. A gentleman named Yanga finally calls me. I explain to him what has been happening and he stares at me…I tell him that I feel this is not the same phone that I brought in and that it is more broken now than when it was booked in. I ask for a new phone, I mean this is ridiculous!! He flat out says “no”. Fine, I ask to speak to the manager, Vincent arrived, and I explain to him and tell him that after all of this I feel like I want a new phone. His response…”no”

I understand that Vodacom can’t just give out phones left and right but when the phone is clearly not working I feel that a new phone should be given. The service that I received today is a clear indication that they do not care about there clients. They just do what they have to and move on to the next person. I spend, like most of South Africa, a fortune on my phone contract every year, and being in the service industry myself I live on my phone, it goes with me everywhere and that is where clients can get hold of me! I am disgusted by the attitude of the staff and the lack of interest in my problem. I would also like to add that I have full comprehensive cover as well as screen protection cover with Vodacom

So to wrap up, the phone is now booked in for the THIRD TIME this month, they gave me a replacement phone that but…nevermind.

I truly hope that something can be done about the service I received.
