Vodacom taking my daughters birthday present

My story started when I was phoned by a sales person stating that I was one of only a handful of Vodacom's valued customers, that was selected to receive a Laptop at a great deal. Surely I was interested as I was in the market to buy one for my daughter's 16th birthday coming up 24 November 2022. She so badly wanted her own laptop. All sounded great and I said yes. After all I was told I had 14 days to return the laptop if not fully satisfied. When I finally received the laptop on Monday 12 Sep 2022 I was so excited and did not know how I would hide it from her for 2 months but now at least one less thing to worry about. When I got home, i opened it and saw that the laptop only had a 64GB hard drive and I remembered how disappointed she was with her phone I got her a year ago. The phone had only 16GB memory and even with an extra memory card she could not get all her things to fit on the phone. I then spend the next night or two thinking about this and could not do it to her again. I then decided to send the laptop back stating the memory as the reason. Vodacom had no issues and send the same couriers to collect it that same week on Friday 16 September 2022. The courier even gave me a tracking number as reference to show it was picked up (COL***0). To close this off I received a message on Wednesday 21 September at 11:12am stating that they received the laptop back. Knowing that was done I could now start looking into buying a better laptop that will last her more than a month. To my shock I received a statement on 07 October 2022 stating I had to now pay for the device. I then phoned Vodacom's customer service. They advised me to contact the cancellation department and so I did. What I regret is not taking down the person's details that helped me on the day. She told me that it was not Vodacom itself, i took out the contract from one of their external partners. I would have to wait up to 72Hours for them to contact me. Well it never happened. The following week on Monday 17 October at 11:17 I phoned them again. This time making sure to take down details. I did speak to a lady by the name of Precious and she gave me the same story about getting someone to contact me in 48 to 72hours. I told her I was not happy and needed it sorted out as no one ever phoned me back. She promised to personally follow up with me the same week on the Thursday. Well needless to say, she never did. I then phoned them again on Friday 21 October at 15:30 only to be told, that Precious was off sick. I then explained the full story again to Yandisa and she gave me a referral number 1/***6534 and told me again that I will be contacted in 72Hours. I gave her a ear full and was ashamed of my outburst but I felt it had to be said. In the meantime I was told I had to pay for the laptop and would be reimbursed later. Now today 08 November i get a statement showing I have to pay R11 175,37 for premature cancellation of my contract that amounts to R8 768,01. Needless to say I phoned Vodacom again today and after explaining the full story I was placed on hold and off hold just to go back on hold again. After the very friendly lady could no longer help me I was transferred to someone else. She started singing the same song about me having to wait 72Hours. I told her that I would not take this and demanded to speak to a supervisor. Then finally after an hour on the phone I got cut off. Now you tell me what next? Where do I go from here? What do I tell my daughter on her birthday. Sorry I could not get you a laptop as I had to pay Vodacom R8 768,01 for a laptop I do not possess. It will brake her heart! Shame on you Vodacom!! I hope you get your act together and sort this out for me as I will take this all the way. Douglas
