Vodacom taking advantage of old ladies

My mother has been with Vodacom for more than 2 decades and was trying to make the difficult decision in light of her impending retirement not to renew her cell phone contract so as to limit her future financial responsibilities. When she shared her bills with me, seekign advice, I was horrified to see that Vodacom had continued to charge her for her handset after her most recent 24 month contract, even though she'd had the same old Blackberry for almost 4 years! We called the call centre several times in December (spending over an hour myself on the phone with the cancellations department on 21 Dec) and she still hasn't been released from her contract! This should be a simple matter seeing as her last 24 month contract expired *years* ago! My mom is now too intimidated to call the call centre because of the run-around I received in Dec and I have finally managed to convince the call centre to give me the information... and they say the cancellation has been cancelled, but can't give me a reason! It's deplorable that Vodacom treats any customers this way, let alone an old lady that just wants to convert her sim to prepaid. Vodacom should reimburse the handset charges for the last few years... but we'll settle for you just letting us go without any further billing.
