Vodacom taking advantage?
A friend signed a data contract with Vodacom on 10 April for a 10 GB mobile wifi data. She was not informed that should she use more than the 10 GB, she would be charged for the usage. There is also no cut off in the contract which would warn her that she is reaching the limit.
The debit order was meant to go off on the 6th of every month and Vodacom took money from her account on the 1st which made her balance go in credit. On 7 June R3174.30 was withdrawn from her account.
For a pensioner this is a lot of money and I believe Vodacom should have discussed the terms of the contract and should have made it clear that the 10GB limit could be exceeded if this is indeed what did occur. Alternatively there should have been some warning in place that the limit was about to be reached.
She was told by the staff to take the sim card out of the router and check her usage on her phone. That, to my mind is ridiculous.
Shame on Vodacom!
