Vodacom takes back a customers cellphone after they said he qualified and gave him the phone

My father recently opened a contract at Vodacom Malmesbury. The contract was for an iPhone 11. They told my father that he qualified, and gave him the phone and the sim card. I was ecstatic, as I was upgrading from the iPhone 6. I transferred all my data to the new phone, and reset my old iPhone for my father to use. One day after receiving my new phone, vodacom contacts my father and tells him to immediately bring back the phone, as there are problems with IMEI numbers or something. So he takes it back, where after they said I will get the phone back the next day. The next day, being today, the 13th of December 2019, they tell my father that he did not qualify for the cellphone. Now, I have to give my 21st birthday and Christmas present back after having it for only one day. It's like giving a toddler a sweet and grabbing it before they can eat it. I am extremely disappointed and sad about the situation. Not only this, but now I have lost all my data as I did not have enough icloud storage to back up my entire phone, so I airdropped from my old phone to the new one. This is totally unacceptable.
