Vodacom system and support fail

It is bit of a mixed bag this one. although in the end the instore assistance did get my upgrade done the reason I had to go in was and is the problem. I was on a month to month rolling extension of my previous upgrade, when on the 9th February i got a call where i was told i would loose my number if i didn't move over to the new Vodacom Red packages. I stated that i am not ready to upgrade, but obviously didn't want to loose my number. I was reassured that i would not be upgraded but will be moved to the new packaged as a profile update. So when on the 3rd March I wanted to upgrade and had decided on what i wanted, i attempted an online upgrade which failed noting that there was an error with my account; eventually after trying multiple times i called the number provided which took me to Sales and Upgrade, the automatic messages then informed me that i was not eligible for an upgrade as i had been upgraded. I then called another Vodacom online, where i was informed that i had been upgraded sim only; which brings us to issue. This is ***** it was done without my consent by the Retentions team; i was put through to that team where i expressed my outrange and was told someone will call me. They where also not able to cancel my upgrade as that was not in their dealer permissions. Long story short after about a week of being shuttled from pillar to post my ********** upgrade was cancelled and we started the process of my actual upgrade. This resulted in another back and forth as the data package was not agreed upfront and was way to small, in the end the cancelled the devices i had selected and did not update my data packages. Another week of trying to get to human to resolved this, only to find out that the only team who could help is sales, but the automatic system keeps dropping the call as i am not eligible for an upgrade. Eventually i go to in store; the store assistant raised a request to cancel my two upgrades this at least was done with in an hour. We do that upgrade but the device i wanted is not instore and has to be sourced from another store, annoying but at least it is on its way. Before the device arrives i get a call to come in store so that we can finalize the upgrade, only to discover that again without my consent someone had added a ***** block on my account so that the upgrade could not be completed.

Its all sorted now, but after nearly two weeks on calls with Vodacom support teams all of which i made and another week for the instore service person.

I am still waiting on a call to explain to me how i was upgraded without my consent and who put the ***** block on my account which from my understanding the customer is the only person who can put it on.

Should i be worried that i am paying for someone else cellphone?
